About The cause

ABOUT RAINBOW ROADTRIP

Rainbow Roadtrip is a continuous and ongoing journey each year which was created by Mykey O’Halloran in September 2015. Mykey is a Melbourne based Australian hairdresser that has been in the hair industry 10 years. He replicates iconic landmarks including food , fruit and crustacean hairstyles and sculpts them into people’s hair to raise money for Make A Wish Foundation which helps grant wishes to children that are really sick. Over 50 Hairstyles have been created for the cause, so far raising a total of $22,143 for Make-A-Wish Australia. Using hair bleach to lighten volunteer’s hair, then uses Manic Panic rainbow hair color to dye the volunteers hair into the colors of the landmark to then sculpt their hair into the shape and bring the creation to life. The volunteer gets their hair done free and Mykey volunteers his time, energy and creativity to make the hair styles, and the volunteer starts a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish foundation, and for the commitment of changing their hair. In return of the commitment, people sponsor them to have their hair transformed which all funds go to granting wishes with Make A Wish kids. In July 2017 Mykey will be creating 15 iconic landmarks and foods in AMERICA into hairstyles for the Make A Wish Foundation America and Australia. Mykey’s cousin Meaghan worked for the Make A Wish Foundation and passed away 9 years ago, to remember Meaghan and the things she did to help grant wishes for children that were really sick Mykey carries on her legacy in loving memory. Mykey’s mission and pledge is to donate his time and energy in generating donations for the Make A Wish Foundation. The target for the fundraiser as a whole is $50,000 for the Make A Wish Foundation.
